I guess it makes sense (in my head) for the twins to be interested in botany because it's something they've done from the beginning.

Maybe it's an unconscious way for them to try to make amends or cope with the accident?

I can see Nightmare trying to take care of flowers but they always die no matter how hard he tries. And I also imagine Dream would try and while his intention is clear, he doesn't have the pragmatic knowledge required for it so they die too.

It would be nice if, in a truce scenario, they had a garden that they worked on together. They have a lot to learn from each other now that things have changed so much and start putting down roots for a new, healthy sibling relationship.
